Cat Furniture Accomplishes Many Things:
Elevated cat furniture promotes exercise and agility in your cat. A raised perch provides a place for your cat to retreat to in case of vacuum cleaner attack or worse a dog visitation. Depending on placement a perch can put your cat at eye level for better conversation and head bonking. Cats like to climb, jump and look down on things because they are natural predators. Cats appreciate the vantage point on a room or a backyard. If a cat has a dedicated scratching area then your other scratchable furniture is safer.
All of my cat furniture is made basically the same way. I weld a steel support structure together, paint it and add a upholstered piece of wood to it. The platforms are usually about a foot square and made from 3/4" plywood while the posts are sturdy 4"x4"s from six to seven feet tall. All Cat Furniture is made with countersunk screw holes so they may be securely mounted to any wood surface.
